World Cup, Tapas, and Friendship

by Michelle Lyttle Lowery on July 10, 2010

in News

I have a confession. I haven’t been watching the World Cup. I know. Having lived in Spain, and Spain being in the running, I should have probably been more interested in it. I’m not much of a sports enthusiast to begin with. I like going to baseball games in person, and I went to a couple of Spurs games when I lived in San Antonio, which was really fun. I’m also a Dallas Cowboys fan for certain personal reasons. But other than that, I don’t care much about sports. I’ll be watching the World Cup final this Sunday, though, for a few reasons.

Share your Spanish Recipes!

by Michelle Lyttle Lowery on June 21, 2010

in Spanish Foods

I’ve been thinking about adding Spanish recipes to the site for quite a while. Every so often on Facebook, someone asks how to make something—paella, pinchitos, and just the other night, sangria. Well, that was the kicker because several Rota Admirals weighed in on that conversation, each with their own special sangria recipe. I figured that was a great place to start!

Help a girl see the world

March 1, 2010

I started this blog to share news about fellow Rota Admirals, and I wouldn’t normally include a personal plea like this. No offense to all you parents out there, but I don’t think anyone wants to see the blog turn into a request list for buying gift wrap and Girl Scout cookies. I’m making an [...]

Spain…On The Road Again

January 23, 2010

I’ve been talking about this series with people on Facebook lately, so I thought I’d share it here, too since it’s a favorite of mine. A few years ago, well known chef Mario Batali and a producer friend of his thought it would be fun to create a short series of shows about Spain—its people, [...]

Who is John Q? And why you should know.

September 15, 2009

David Turner, Class of ’88, is in a band. No, not a garage band that only gets together on the weekends to jam. And not a band that only plays your cousin’s wedding or the occasional bar mitzvah. A band that is about to release its second CD. The band is called John Q, and [...]
