Whether you’re cooking just for yourself or you have a large family to feed, the nightly question of, “What’s for dinner?” can be enough to push even the most talented cook over the edge. What to make? Do I have all the ingredients? Will we all like it? How soon would a pizza be here if I ordered it now?
DGFer Bonnie Switzer Giles has the answer.
She and a group of friends have put together The Beans Blog, a foodie blog full of healthy and tasty recipes. Bonnie and her fellow bloggers try the recipes out themselves and then report on ease of preparation, flavor and whether the kids gave their thumbs-up. Not focusing on any one culinary genre, the blog boasts everything from vegetarian to Cajun to Korean to good ol’ comfort food like lasagne.
One of the best things about this blog? The photography! At first glance, you may think the Beans Blog authors have scanned in magazine photos, or done extensive Google image searches. Actually, for the most part, Bonnie photographs her own meals, sometimes mid-preparation, usually completed, and the results rival any food magazine out there in composition, color and the ability to make your mouth water, as evidenced by this recent entry.
Look for the link under Alumni-Run Sites. You’ll also find The Beans Blog—and the DGF Alumni blog—in the Networked Blogs application on Facebook. Keep up with both blogs without even leaving Facebook! And the next time you’re trying to figure out what to make for dinner, just remember: Pass the beans please!
